Description

A strong wind throughout the day had cleared the sky going on through the night it made for bad seeing ando also vibration to the setup.
So I decided to try again to image M76, always with the C6, but at F4.6 (690 mm FL) and without the UHC filter (with just a Fringe Killer one to limit CA by the focal reducer).
Also, the higher luminosity due to lower F ratio and wider light spectrum allowed me to shorten the imaging time to 3s per frame and hence limit the effects of seeing and wind induced vibrations.
A filter on FWHM was used to further limit the aforementioned effects.
I used the live stacking feature of Sharpcap with automatic saving and reset of the stack every 5 minutes, so 1400 3 seconds frames were collected in 14 images each one the result of the stacking of 100 3s frames.
This 14 "long frames" were then stacked "traditionally" (i.e. not live) with Astro Pixel Processor.
The final result is less noisy that the one I got a few days ago with 5s exposures at F7.3, but not much of the nebulosity surrounding the central "dumbbell" is revealed.
An integration on multiple nights would be necessary to further improve.
